Esme Vase in Lava

The Esme Vase series in Lava is a collection of wheel-thrown stoneware vessels by Brooklyn-based ceramicist Kalya O'Donoghue. Drawing inspiration from the ocean's surf and otherworldly tide pool textures, Kalya breaks glaze compounds down to their chemical foundation so she can adjust and rebuild them, creating unique surface treatments on each of her ceramic pieces. Utilizing basic material science, she integrates foreign materials, like steel, into her work. The engineered glazes and metal elements lend her work a solid yet delicate, almost airy feeling.  

Available in three distinct sizes, each vessel is watertight and may be used with freshly cut stems.
